Kehillah 2009 Updates

July 6, 2009 - Update on K2 Staff

Dear K2 Families,

Prior to the summer, in the Nesiya Handbook, you received a list of this summer's counselor-educators along with short biographies of each individual. As you may have noticed when you received the K2 group list, K2's head counselor, Itamar Nechama, was not included in the original list. Itamar is a veteran Nesiya counselor and head counselor, whom we were very excited to recruit to this summer's staff shortly after the handbook was sent to you. Because he was not included in the original list, I am including his biography below. The biographies of the other three K2 counselors, Rinat Safania, Galit Heller, and Aaron Potek, can be found in your handbook.

Itamar Nechama - Jerusalem
Itamar is excited to join the Kehillah Experience this year, for his fourth summer with Nesiya. He began working at Nesiya in 2004 as a counselor-educator for the Kehillah Fellows Program in Israel, an academic-year program for secular and religious Israeli high school students, and will serve as Coordinator for this program during the coming 2009-10 academic year. Itamar grew up in central Israel and served in the army for three years in the paratrooper unit. He then worked as a youth counselor at Kibbutz Tirat Tzvi before beginning his university studies. He received a B.A. and is completing an M.A. from the Revivim program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. For the last several years, Itamar has taught Tanakh and Jewish Thought at the Keshet School, a pluralistic high school in Jerusalem. He has also worked as a volunteer with disabled children at "Beit HaGalgalim," an organization dedicated to the development and integration of physically handicapped children in Israel. This past year, Itamar and his wife Efrat, also a veteran Nesiya counselor, spent a number of months traveling in the Far East and New Zealand, returning to Israel in May.

As I write, your children are enjoying their second day of arts workshops in the Negev. Late this afternoon, they will participate in presentations, in which each workshop will share their experiences of the past day and a half with the rest of the participants from all three Kehillot.

משפחות חניכי קהילה 2 היקרות,

לקראת הקיץ, בדפי המידע על הקיץ, פורטו לכם שמות המדריכים של הקבוצה וביוגרפיה קצרה על כל אחד מהם. כפי שאולי שמתם לב, ראש הקבוצה, איתמר נחמה לא אוזכר ברשימת המדריכים. איתמר, ראש קבוצה ומדריך וותיק בנסיעה אותו שמחנו לצרף לצוות הקיץ, זמן קצת לאחר שנשלחה אליכם תוכנית הקיץ.

מכיוון שהוא לא צוין ברשימת הצוות בחרתי לצרף לכם את הביוגרפיה שלו להלן. את הפרטים על שאר המדריכים; רינת צפניה, גלית הלר ואהרון פוטק תוכלו למצוא בתוכנית הקיץ.

איתמר נחמה - ירושלים
איתמר, נרגש להצטרף לתוכנית הקיץ של נסיעה זאת הפעם הרביעית, את עבודה בנסיעה הוא החל כמדריך בתוכנית השנתית לישראלים של נסיעה ב-2004, אשר בשנה יעמוד בראשה. איתמר גדל במרכז הארץ, את שלושת שנות שירותו הצבאי עשה בצנחנים. לאחר הצבא,לפני שפנה ללימודים האקדמאים, עבד איתמר כמדריך נוער בקיבוץ טירת צבי. איתמר, עשה תואר ראשון והיום משלים את התואר השני במסגרת תוכנית "רביבים" של האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. בשנים האחרונות, לימד תנ"ך ומחשבת ישראל בתיכון קשת, בי"ס פלורליסטי בירושלים. בנוסף, הוא עבד בהתנדבות במסגרת ב"בית הגלגלים", ארגון העוסק בשיקום, התפתחות ושילוב ילדים נכים בישראל. בשנה האחרונה, איתמר ואשתו אפרת, גם היא מדריכה וותיקה בנסיעה, בילו מספר חודשים בטיול במזרח הרחוק וניו-זילנד וחזרו ארצה בחודש מאי.

בעוד אני כותבת לכם, ילדכם נהנים מיומם השני בסדנאות האמנות בנגב. היום אחר הצהרים, הם ייקחו חלק בפרזנטציה, בה כל סדנה תציג את פרותיה ותשתף את שאר הקבוצות בחוויה אותה עברו ביום וחצי האחרונים אל מול כל חברי שלושת הקהילות.
