Kehillah 2007 Updates
July 26th, 2007 - Into the Warmth of an Israeli
Home
Dear Nesiya Parents and Friends,
It has been a bustling week in the Nesiya office as we prepare for the home
hospitality weekend and make sure that all of the forms are signed, i's dotted
and t's crossed. It promises to be a spectacular weekend, with Nesiya
participants spread throughout Israel, from Haifa to Eilat. I will update you
all about the adventures of the past week on Sunday, but until then Julie Lake,
who is visiting the Nesiya office today, will share some thoughts about the time
she has spent with the groups:
Dear Parents,
I have been able to spend some time with your children over the past few weeks
since we arrived in Israel and it has been an enormous privilege to get to know
them. I was able to take part in the Negev Noded the first week, the Shabbat in
Tzfat, the Ehud Banai concert last night (a poetry-filled rock and roll dance
party) and a historical and archeological tour of the old city in Jerusalem this
morning with Rabbi Tsvi. Just yesterday a chanich (participant) came up to me
and thanked me for letting him attend Nesiya. I am thankful for each of their
unique and thoughtful perspectives, talents (musical, dramatic, and
communicative, etc.) and their energy and willingness to participate in a deeper
experience of Israeli culture and society. The counselor-educators rave to me
about their groups and each of your children add to the high level of
discussions and enquiry taking place every day on Nesiya.
b’shalom,
Julie
Your children will be joining their home hospitality hosts tomorrow morning. I
want to remind you again that the health insurance we’ve purchased for the
children applies throughout the weekend. Tonight, your children will receive
their health insurance card to carry with them. Should you hear from your
children during the weekend about a health concern, please remind them about the
insurance card and instruct them to call the Nesiya senior staff (they will
receive a list of emergency phone numbers).
Your children will be with their hosts from Friday morning through midday on
Sunday. The staff will be available for your children to call with questions or
problems, and you can call Charles or other members of the senior staff with
concerns.
Shabbat shalom,
Mollie
