Diller Teen Fellows Summer Seminar - San Francisco
July 23rd, 2007
Friday afternoon before Shabbat, we all participated in arts activities that
helped us explore ourselves, each other and our relationships to the desert and
Judaism. The art activity options were: movement, creative writing, visual arts,
photography & drama. We all had a great time participating and watching our
fellow “Diller’s” share with the group what they had been doing. We then had a
beautiful Shabbat, and we each participated in a prayer option that we were
interested in. Shabbat brought many fun times and interesting learning
opportunities.
Havdalah was easily the best part of Shabbat. SF Dillers (not to be cocky) have
the best Havdalah’s. We all felt well connected and as one group. For some of
us, it was a ground-breaking experience. Passing-the-kiss (don’t worry: it’s on
the cheek) is the most fun and uniting part of the experience.
We have all enjoyed bonding experiences and opened up to each other. We shared
our struggles and challenges in life.
All of the Diller’s faced the challenge of respecting each other’s practices
while still keeping their own. We still have much more to learn from each other
and many more challenges ahead.
Lots of love,
- S.F. Diller’s (Leah and Hannah)
