Diller Teen Fellows Summer Seminar - Baltimore

July 23rd, 2007

Our last few days in the desert have been really amazing and packed with fun activities for everyone. A few days ago we had a very innovative arts workshop involving all aspects of the art world. We all had a choice between five different workshops including drama, body movement, visual arts, digital photography, and creative writing. In the morning, each group met separately and learned all about their chosen topic and ended the morning session with a final project. After lunch, all of the workshop groups came together and presented their projects. Drama put on mini plays; creative writing read their pieces; digital photography presented their series of photos, telling a story; movement put on a small dance, and visual arts presented their works of art. Shabbat in the Negev was quite an experience for all. With several prayer options on Friday night, we all got to pray in a place of comfort and welcomed Shabbat with a great meal together. Song and dance continued with a participant-led oneg late into the night. Relaxation and leisure brought in the Sabbath this Saturday with a late wake up and laid back text study of the Spies. Optional activities of basketball and football carried on into the night followed by Havdalah. Saturday night closed with a movie watched by everyone from all four cities. Today (Sunday) we visited Ben Gurion’s grave and traveled into the holy city of Jerusalem.
