Diller Teen Fellows Summer Seminar - Baltimore
July 19th, 2007 - Returning from our noded
("wandering") in the desert
Hi everyone at home from Israel. Just arrived back at the Har HaNegev Field
School after an exhausting three-day excursion through the desert. Suddenly the
bathrooms, beds and showers of the hostel seem to be quite a luxury! The noded
experience was extraordinary and inspiring. Though at times extremely tiring,
the hikes and activities opened our minds to a completely different environment,
and sent us “soul searching” inside ourselves. Highlights of the past couple of
days include a trek to the summit of one of the highest peaks in the Ramon
Crater (the view was extraordinary!), the midnight stargaze, and a half hour of
desert isolation and personal reflection. We had some time to bond with the
Detroit group at night when we cooked dinner together which was fun. In short,
the Negev was great, but everyone was definitely ready for a shower. The next
few days should be relaxing. See you all in a few weeks!
